Bobby Labonte
Racing Travels to Midwest
Archdale, N.C. (May 19, 2010) - Bobby Labonte
Racing (BLR) will have their fans on the edge of their seat
when they travel to 34 Raceway in West Burlingtown (Iowa) on
Friday, May 21 and LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle (Ill.) on Saturday,
May 22. A $10,000 purse is on the line for both nights and BLR
is ready to take on the competition.
Earl Pearson Jr. will push for another victory
in his No. 44 Lucas Oil Dodge Charger after a close second-place
finish last week at Wythe Raceway. With his past three finishes
in the top-five, another win is just around the corner. The
season is still young, which gives BLR team driver Brad Neat
and the No. 41 Red Buck Filtered Cigars team a chance to transform
their season.
Team Manager Jason Fitzgerald comments
on this Weekend's Doubleheader:
"You have to go on a long road trip at some
point in the season, a few actually. This is our first real
long haul. We'll make sure our equipment is prepared for the
trip and enough stuff is on the truck to keep everything fresh.
The guys always make sure we have plenty of spare parts in case
something gets tore up. It is a two week trip for us. We will
still be doing the things we usually do, but we won't have a
shop to do it in. The biggest thing is to make sure everything
is well maintained and enough equipment is with you if something
were to happen.
"I feel like our cars are definitely better.
The communication between Earl's team, we are back where we
used to be. Every time the car hits the track it gets better
for him. That's what we are after. If you can have the consistency
then the wins will follow. This past weekend our car was extremely
fast. We went harder on tires than I think anyone in the field.
I can't say enough about Earl and his car, he did an excellent
job for the tires he had on.
"We are looking for consistency. If we can
keep getting top-five finishes the points will fall where they
fall. I would like to get one or two wins on this road trip.
LaSalle is a mediocre track for us for whatever reason. We have
had a couple good runs there. I would like to go there and get
a top-five and we'll be happy with that. Anything above that
would be like getting a puppy at Christmas. This Series is probably
the toughest it has ever been this year. You look at the caliber
of drivers that are racing in it, they are some of the best
in the game. If you can go finish in the top-five every week
and just be consistent, that is great. Am I satisfied with not
winning? No, I'm not, but you have to look at reality.
"When you get those wins you take them because
they are hard to come by. I feel like our cars are a lot better
and obviously we are collecting our top-five finishes. It seems
like the wins are right around the corner. Earl usually gets
off to a slow start to the season honestly, but we are off to
a better start as far as our finishes than we have ever been.
So when summer rolls around, and Earl kicks it in high gear,
I feel like we will be right where we need to be."
