Bobby Labonte
Racing Contend in Midwest
Earl Pearson Jr. and Brad Neat Continue to Demonstrate Results
Archdale, N.C. (May 26, 2010) - Bobby Labonte
Racing (BLR) will continue its Midwest action this weekend at
Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland (Mo.) and Tri-City Speedway
in Pontoon Beach (Ill.) on Friday, May 28, Saturday, May 29
and Sunday, May 30.
A $30,000 purse is on the line for the 18th Annual
DART Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil Speedway. The race will also be
taped to air on SPEED later this season. The purse for the 4th
Annual FedEx 50 at Tri-City Speedway will be $10,000.
Earl Pearson Jr. and the No. 44 Lucas Oil Dodge
are coming off their second win of the season after capturing
the checkered flag last week at 34 Raceway in Iowa. The season
has just begun for Pearson, as he annually shines in the summer
months, and is determined to make a run at the championship.
He is currently ranked third (110 points out of first) in the
Lucas Oil points standings.
Teammate Brad Neat and the No. 41 Red Buck Filtered
Cigars Chevrolet team finished 13th and 14th at the two events
of their doubleheader last weekend. The team will build on this
momentum to continue climbing up the championship points ladder.
Team Manager Jason Fitzgerald Comments
on Last Week's Win and Racing in Missouri:
"I am really proud of our performance last weekend from
both Brad and Earl. We're glad to see Brad get back on track,
getting laps and running strong. It was great to be back in
victory lane with Earl and the No. 44 team, too. It's just so
hard to win in this series. The guys did a good job and I think
we're getting warmed up for a pretty nice summer stretch.
"We left this weekend with spare equipment
in case we tore something up. Coming out of these races with
clean cars and two good finishes, you can't ask for more. This
is definitely in our favor since we are not working out of a
shop this week. Things are going our way, but we're staying
pretty calm, too. There is a lot of racing ahead of us. We're
just sticking to our plan.
"The teams are doing a great job of staying
focused in our aim for consistency. Brad had top-15 finishes
both races and Earl had a one-two finish in his races. Those
are good nights for us. Those are what are going to get our
teams in the championship race. This weekend, Earl has won a
few races at Lucas Oil Speedway and we are hoping to be competitive
and take home another win. For Brad, I think we feel good about
him, too. If he can get a good draw and finish well in his heat,
he'll be fine.
"Being out in the Midwest with some of the
independent racers is a great mix to our season. The guys that
come to race with us, they know what they need to do to their
cars and they will be aggressive. It's great to come and race
competitively with guys we are not around each weekend.
"And, these fans are also great. When the
race is over, the fans come and hang out in the pits, take pictures
and really soak up the environment. It's cool to leave your
car out and have families come over and ask questions. The fans
are of course what keep us here and allow us to do what we love."
